Scots not popular air passengers, but Welsh bottom of the class in cabin crew survey

SCOTS are less popular passengers among cabin crew than English or Irish fliers on UK flights, a new survey has shown.

However, the Welsh were the least favourite, the poll by Edinburgh-based flight comparison website Skyscanner found.

The research among 700 staff from 85 countries also revealed their perfect airline passenger – a man in his 30s travelling alone in economy class for leisure.

The poll found cabin crew’s biggest gripe was passengers who clicked their fingers to get attention, followed by those who got up before the seat belt signs had been switched off, and people who tried to cram too much into overhead lockers.

Other grumbles included passengers talking through the safety demonstration and stuffing rubbish into seat pockets.

Skyscanner spokesman Sam Poullain said: “It must be frustrating for cabin crew when passengers try to cram as much hand baggage in the overhead locker as possible. However, carrying only hand luggage can save passengers quite a lot of money. Unless airlines charge less for hold luggage, I don’t see this changing.”
