Rest and Be Thankful: Old Military Road shut as officials eye heavy rain forecasts

The A83 has been shut to traffic this evening after weather forecasts predicted heave rain over the weekend.

Motorists will now have to take a 59-mile signed diversion route with officials warning them to allow extra time for their journey.

Traffic Scotland blamed "adverse weather conditions” in the region’s overnight forecast.

The road, also known as Rest and Be Thankful, has been shut on multiple occasions in 2020 amid a spate of landslides that have threatened the safety of drivers.
