£27.2m road plan approved

PLANS for an Inverness bypass moved a significant step forward yesterday when councillors agreed the route for the western stretch of the road.

Highland Council had been considering a total of eight options, ranging in cost from £23 million-£75m, for the Inverness West Link Road to divert traffic from the congested city centre.

At a meeting of the full council in Inverness, councillors approved proposals for a £27.2m scheme which will link the A9 with the A82 Dores Road roundabout via new bridges to be built across the River Ness and the Caledonian Canal at Tomnahurich.
