Police search Loch Nan Druimnean after car plunges into water

Police and the coastguard were tonight searching a loch after reports that a family car plunged into the water.

Emergency services were called to the incident on the A816 north of Kilmelford, near Oban, at about 4pm today.

Helicopters and water teams began searching Loch Nan Druimnean after reports that a car crashed into the water.

There were unconfirmed reports that two adults and two children remained in the vehicle.

Oban Coastguard Volunteer Team searched the shore for any survivors who may have escaped from the vehicle, which is understood to have come to rest in deep water.

APolice Scotland spokesman said: “It is understood that there are individuals still in the vehicle and emergency services remain at the scene.”
