Police name man who died when forklift truck toppled over

A man who died after the forklift truck he was driving hit a kerb and toppled over has been named as Mohammed Anwar.

The incident happened on the northbound side of Glenburn Road, East Kilbride, at around 10.30am on Friday.

Emergency services attended but Mr Anwar, 52, from Thornliebank, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police Scotland said their inquiries have shown there were several people around at the time of the incident and officers are appealing to people who were in the area to contact them.

A spokeswoman said: “An investigation is under way to establish the circumstances and anyone with information is asked to call officers at Motherwell’s road policing unit on 101.”
