Perthshire crash leaves one dead and four injured

AN ELDERLY woman has died and two people have been seriously injured following a two-car crash on an unclassified road.

The 78-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident, which happened at about 10am, yesterday, at Tibbermore crossroads, Perthshire.

The woman, thought to be from Perth, was a passenger in a blue Mazda, along with four other women.

Two other occupants of the same car, aged 82 and 83, were taken by ambulance to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, suffering from serious injuries.

Tayside Police said the remaining women in the car, aged 77 and 83, received slight injuries and were taken to Perth Royal Infirmary for treatment.

The crash, on the road that runs from Perth to Madderty, also involved a silver Renault Laguna.

The driver of that car, a 24-year-old woman, was also taken to Perth Royal Infirmary, suffering from shock.

Her passengers, two one-year-old girls and a three-year-old boy, were unhurt.

Crash investigators have

been working to establish what happened. Road closures were put in place. A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal in due course.
