Murray D’Angelo died after he got out of a taxi he was travelling in and was struck by two cars on the outskirts of Edinburgh.

Emergency services were called to the incident, at around 6:15am, between the Hermiston and Gogar junctions, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. D’Angelo, of Wester Broom, Edinburgh, had been travelling westbound in the taxi with two others.

Police are appealing for the two men who were in the taxi at the time of the incident, and who subsequently left the scene, to come forward.

Chief Inspector Stevie Dolan said: “To help us piece together the circumstances, anyone who witnessed this collision or has information which can assist with our enquiries is urged to contact police on 101.”

Online tributes were made to D’Angelo last night on Twitter, with Becca D’Angelo, from Edinburgh, writing: Devastating news can’t believe it. RIP MD.”
