The driver suffered cuts to her arm in the incident which took pl;ace on the A899 between the Lizzie Brice and Deer Park roundabouts, under the footbridge linking Dedridge and Mid Calder at 1.05am.
Police said could have had fatal consequences if the woman had not managed to keep control of her vehicle.
Two children who were also in the car were uninjured.
