Motorist cut free from car after Buchan crash

A MOTORIST has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries following a single vehicle crash on a rural road in Buchan this morning.

The male driver had to be cut free from the wreckage of his car by firefighters following the accident on the B9033 St Combs to A90 road, near St Combs in Aberdeenshire.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “The road has been closed meantime and local diversions are in place.”

A spokesman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “Crews got the call at around 7.35am and two appliances from Fraserburgh were sent to the scene. Firefighters used hydraulic cutting equipment to free the man from the vehicle. He was then airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with serious injuries.”
