Minibus driver dies after Argyll crash

A man has died after a crash between a car and minibus.

The crash happened on the A83 near Kennacraig ferry terminal in Argyll at about 7.10am between a Mitsubishi 4x4 travelling south and the north-bound minibus.

The 62-year-old driver of the minibus died at the scene while the 21-year-old driver of the Mitsubishi was taken to Campbeltown Hospital with minor injuries and later released.

Six of the ten male passengers on the bus were taken by ambulance to Mid Argyll Hospital in Lochgilphead.

One has since been transferred to the Southern General Hospital in Glasgow and another to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley.

The remaining four passengers were taken to Campbeltown Hospital for treatment.

The road was closed in both directions between Tarbert and Kennacraig for police investigations and reopened at 4.50pm.
