Man dies after three-vehicle crash in capital

A MAN has died following a three-vehicle crash in Edinburgh.

Police said the accident happened on Maybury Road at around 7:40pm yesterday and involved a Renault Clio, a Subaru and a Peugeot Boxer van.

A fire brigade spokeswoman said firefighters used hydraulic cutting gear to free two men aged approximately 25 years old, one of whom died at the scene.

The two remaining casualties were taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. Their conditions were not thought to be serious.

The road was closed and traffic diversions were put in place for the rest of the evening while an investigation took place.

Police said inquiries were at an early stage and the force appealed for any witnesses to come forward.
