Man dies after three-car crash in Orkney

AN ELDERLY man has died after a late-night three car crash, police said.

The 84-year-old man was driving a blue Vauxhall Agila, which was involved in the accident on the A965 Kirkwall to Stromness Road at Binscarth, Finstown, Orkney.

Another person was injured in the crash and was taken to Balfour Hospital, in Kirkwall by ambulance.

The road was closed for almost three hours after the incident, which took place at about 11.50pm on Friday.

Police Scotland is appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information about the crash to come forward.
