Luggage warning as liquids haul mounts

A “LIQUIDS mountain” weighing 22 tonnes has been collected by Edinburgh Airport security staff over the last year.

Passengers have seen around £8000 worth of items confiscated after falling foul of strict rules laid down by the Department for Transport.

Now holidaymakers are being warned to make sure they carry liquids with a volume of no more than 100ml in their hand luggage.

Airport managing director Jim O’Sullivan said: “We’re asking passengers to double check hand luggage.”
