“I do not believe they are running a Covid-19 safe service or following their guidelines.”

Face coverings have been mandatory on public transport in Scotland since 22 June.

An LNER spokesperson said: “To keep our customers and colleagues safe and to support social distancing, anyone travelling with LNER must have a seat reservation.

“Customers are automatically allocated a socially distanced seat.

“Our train managers are making regular onboard announcements to remind customers to remain in their socially-distanced seat and to wear a face covering, unless they are exempt.

“Announcements are also being made in our stations.

"Posters, signage and information screens on board trains and in stations ensure information is readily available.

“It is the role of the British Transport Police to enforce the regulations around the wearing of face coverings and we advise any customers with concerns to contact the BTP.”
