Inverness residents warned over forest fire

A LARGE forest fire in the Highlands has forced local residents indoors.

Police have advised residents in Milton of Leys, on the outskirts of Inverness, to stay inside to avoid smoke from the blaze in Bogbain Wood, which was reported at around 2.50pm.

A Fire Scotland spokeswoman said: “The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service are currently in attendance to extinguish the fire, but as a precautionary measure police are asking members of the public to avoid the Milton of Leys area at this time.

Residents in the Milton of Leys area are asked to stay indoors due the large amount of smoke coming from the fire.”
