Forth Road Bridge roadworks set to cause major delays for motorists

DRIVERS using the Forth Road Bridge face delays of up to two hours during major roadworks starting north of the crossing next month.

Motorists have been urged to use alternative routes, allow extra time for journeys or travel by train instead during the work to upgrade the M90.

A six-week contraflow between junctions 1 and 3 of the motorway from 9 April - Easter Monday - is expected to cause 30-minute delays on weekdays and hold-ups of two hours over four weekends from Friday, 20 April.

Further disruption will be caused at 10pm every other Friday for six months from 6 April when blasting closes roads around the bridge for 30 minutes.

To add to drivers’ misery, the bridge will be restricted to one lane in each direction for repairs this weekend, and over the 31 March-1 April weekend and on two weekends sometime after Easter.
