Flight declares mid-flight emergency after leaving Edinburgh

An Easyjet flight has safely landed in Newcastle after declaring a mid-air emergency after leaving Edinburgh.

The flight, which left at 12:40, was bound for Germany, but was diverted to Newcastle shortly after take off, landing just before 1:30.

It has not yet been revealed what caused the plane to call an emergency, however, it has been reported that fire crews and emergency services were on the runway when the plane landed.

The plane was scheduled to arrive in Hamburg at 3:30 this afternoon.
