Fire crews rescue man from Peterhead hotel blaze

A MAN has been rescued from a blaze at a hotel in Peterhead.

Fire crews were called to the Waverley Hotel in Peterhead, Aberdeenshire, at about 4.15am today.

Almost 40 firefighters attended the scene to deal with the incident, which was brought under control by 5.15am.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said it had six engines and one incident support van at the scene, with firefighters using a jet, a hosereel jet and breathing equipment to tackle the blaze.

A spokeswoman said a man, whose age is currently unknown, was rescued from the scene. It is not yet clear whether he was injured.

The spokeswoman said: “We searched the whole building and all persons were accounted for.”
