Fatality in Outer Hebrides traffic accident

A DRIVER has died after a car crash in the Western Isles.

The man was pronounced dead at Western Isles Hospital.

The emergency services were called to the accident on the A857 Stornoway to Ness road at Laxdale Primary School at about 1.50pm on Saturday.

The collision involved a blue Vauxhall Agila car heading towards Stornoway.

The sole male occupant of the vehicle was taken by ambulance to Western Isles Hospital, but was later pronounced dead.

Officers from Divisional Road Policing Unit North have travelled to the Western Isles to carry out enquiries.

Police Scotland are requesting that anyone who witnessed the accident to contact them on ‘101’
