Falkirk Wheel gets annual engineering check

An unusual MOT: Falkirk Wheel, the world's only rotating boat lift, gets its annual engineering check

Lee Burgoyne, a mechanical electrical engineer, carries out maintenance at the Falkirk Wheel as part of a month-long annual programme to keep the structure in good working order. The work on the world’s only rotating boat lift continues until 9 December.

Scottish Canal’s engineering team will be carrying out an extensive programme of inspections, maintenance and replacements, covering everything from the Wheel’s mechanical and electrical systems to it surrounding infrastructure, including the canal basin and the aqueduct.
