Edinburgh City Council’s new transport forum holds first meeting

the city council’s new transport forum has been tipped to play an “instrumental role” in shaping travel around the Capital after its first ever meeting.

More than 30 people gathered at the City Chambers for the first of what will be quarterly sessions.

The forum is chaired by transport convener Lesley Hinds and includes councillors, members of the public and representatives from Lothian Buses, Edinburgh Airport and many other organisations.

It was formed as part of the Capital’s coalition agreement after May’s council elections.

The first meeting saw the forum draw up the main issues in the Local Transport Strategy 2014-2019, which will go out for consultation early next year.

Councillor Hinds said: “The inaugural meeting got the forum off to a very positive start.”
