Edinburgh Bypass: Three vehicle crash causing huge 60 minute tailbacks during evening rush hour

A three vehicle crash on Edinburgh Bypass is causing delays of up to an hour for motorists during Thursday’s evening rush hour

Police Scotland has confirmed they were called to a crash on the bypass at around 4.40pm on Thursday, December 17 after reports of an accident involving two cars and one lorry.

Edinburgh Travel News, run by the council, tweeted to warn drivers about the incident which are causing lengthy tailbacks on the eastbound carriageway between Baberton and Dreghorn.

They wrote: “Lengthy delays this evening due to an RTC / lane closure on City bypass between Baberton and Dreghorn.

Emergency services in attendance, but expect heavy traffic around surrounding routes, esp Wester Hailes Road and Calder Road.”

Traffic Scotland tweeted to say: “E/B lane 2 (of 2) remains closed Baberton - Dreghorn due to an RTC. Police on scene

“Traffic is queuing back onto the #M8 - approx 60 min travel time”

Police Scotland said: “Reports in at 4.40pm of a crash involving two cars and one lorry on Edinburgh Bypass.
