Dundee cyclist who died after lorry crash is named

THE pedal cyclist who died on Sunday after being knocked down by an articulated lorry on the A90 has been named as Charles Aimer, 42, of Dundee.

Mr Aimer was struck by the lorry as he as cycling on the westbound carriageway of the A90 Perth to Dundee road near to Grange, Errol, on Sunday afternoon. He was rushed by ambulance to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee but died a short time later. The lorry driver was uninjured.

A Tayside Police spokesman said: “Mr Aimer’s family are understandably upset by their sudden loss and have said that he will be greatly missed. They do not wish to make any further comments and have requested that their privacy is respected at this difficult time.”

He continued: “Enquiries into the full set of circumstances of the incident are ongoing and Tayside Police would appeal for anyone who may have information that could assist officers with their enquiries to contact Tayside Police.

“They would like to speak to anyone who may have seen the cyclist travelling towards Perth before the collision - in particular for any other lorry drivers who may seen the cyclist and perhaps had taken evasive action to avoid a collision.”

The spokesman added: “As with all sudden deaths a report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
