Driver who died after A9 crash is named

THE motorist who died in hospital at the weekend after being injured in a crash on the A9 has been named as Peter Isted, 63, of the Pitlochry area of Perthshire.

He died after his green Land Rover Defender overturned on a southbound section of the dual carriageway, south of Birnam, on Saturday morning. He was taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee by ambulance where he later died.

A spokesman for the Tayside Division of Police Scotland said today: “Police Scotland can confirm that a man who died following a road traffic collision on the A9 south of Birnam shortly before midday on Saturday has now been identified. He has been named as 63 year-old Peter Isted of the Pitlochry area.”

He added: “Mr Isted’s family are understandably upset by their sudden loss and have said that he will be greatly missed. They do not wish to make any further comments and have requested that their privacy is respected at this difficult time. As with all sudden deaths a report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
