Disruption warning for Edinburgh-France passengers

Scotland’s busiest airport said the action between 4am and 6pm would cut the number of flights in French airspace by about half.

An airport spokesman said: “We have been monitoring the French air strike situation and are anticipating some disruption to services between Edinburgh and France tomorrow as a result of this.

“We will be doing our best to help minimise any inconvenience but are advising passengers to contact their airline if they are concerned.”

Southern France

The biggest impact of the strike is expected to be in southern France, but all flights over the country could be affected.

EasyJet - Scotland’s busiest airline - has warned of possible disruption after being asked to reduce French flights by 30 per cent, but it said no Scottish flights have been cancelled so far.

However, the carrier said more than 70 per cent of its flights operate through French airspace and there was “a risk of late-notice cancellations depending on the severity of the effect of the strike action”.

EasyJet flies from Edinburgh to Paris, Lyon and Nice, while Air France and Flybe also fly between the Scottish and French capitals.

No Scottish flights are included in those cancelled by Ryanair, which also flies to several French destinations from Edinburgh, but the airline said this was subject to change.
