Cyclist dies after Highlands road accident

The collision between a Ford Transit pick-up and the cyclist occurred on the unclassified Wester Abercalder public road near Gorthleck, Inverness-shire.

Emergency services were called to the scene of the tragic accident at 6.10pm on Thursday.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “As a result of the collision a 21 year old man died at the scene.

“Officers from Police Scotland attended along with Highland and Islands Road Policing Unit Officers who carried out a full investigation at the scene.

“Enquiries are ongoing at this stage. No further details are available at present.”

It is believed the victim was from outwith the Highlands area.
