Council wins £5m car park cash case

EDI, the Edinburgh Council-owned property company, has won an appeal court ruling against car parks operator NCP.

The court upheld an initial ruling over a £5 million profit-sharing payment EDI made for a car park on Castle Terrace managed by NCP. EDI said the agreement lapsed when it failed to find a developer for the site, but NCP has fought repaying it. It still has the right to appeal further to the Supreme Court.

Cllr Gordon Mackenzie, chairman of EDI, said: “We did all that was expected of us and now it remains for NCP to fulfil their obligations and to pay EDI the amount due.”
