Biker dies after car collision

A YOUNG motorcyclist has died after a crash with a car.

The man, who was believed to be in his mid-20s, was taken to hospital after the crash at St Machar Drive in Aberdeen, which happened at about 4pm yesterday. He died a short time later at the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

Police said the driver of the car was not hurt.

The road has been closed to allow an investigation to take place and Grampian Police have asked anyone with information to contact them.

Meanwhile, an elderly man is in a critical condition in hospital after being knocked down in the southside of Glasgow.

The man, believed to be in his early 60s, was crossing Pollokshaws Road at the junction with Albert Drive when he was hit just before 5pmyesterday. He was taken by ambulance to the Victoria Infirmary.

Motorists are advised that the junction will be closed for some time.
