Biker, 54, dies after hitting tree near Lugton in North Ayrshire

A man died today in hospital after his motorbike hit a tree on the B777 near Lugton in North Ayrshire on Thursday.

The 54-year-old, who was seriously injured in the crash, died from his injuries.

The incident involving a red Honda CRF 1000, happened around 10.05am just south of the junction with the B775.

The man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.

Police appealed to anyone with information, such as dashcam footage, to contact them on 101, quoting incident number 0774 of April 29.
