Appeal launched after Aberdeen trains vandalised

BRITISH Transport Police have appealed for information after the windows of passenger trains were smashed by vandals on successive nights on the outskirts of Aberdeen.

The passenger service operating between Inverurie and Aberdeen was targeted by vandals last Monday and Tuesday. Fortunately no one was injured as a result of the two incidents.

A spokesman for British Transport Police said: “Stones were thrown at trains, on consecutive nights, travelling through the Bucksburn area of Aberdeen which resulted in windows being smashed.

The incidents occurred around 7pm on Monday, 8 April, and Tuesday 9 April, and involved the 6:42pm Inverurie to Aberdeen service.”

The spokesman added: “On both occasions no-one was injured. However, it is important that we find those responsible and anyone who was in or around the Bucksburn area at the time of the incidents and can provide information should contact us.”
