Aberdeen roadworks set to bring major disruption

ABERDEEN motorists are being warned to expect delays when work begins on Monday to resurface one of the city’s main roads.

The work on the southbound carriageway of Great Northern Road is expected to last a week.

A spokeswoman for Aberdeen City Council said: “A contraflow will be in operation and the travelling public is warned of the potential for delays. They are advised to use an alternative route or allow extra time for their journeys, particularly if heading to the airport. One lane will be open in both directions during the work.”

Hugh Murdoch, the council’s head of asset management and operations, said: “These essential works will inevitably cause delays and disruption to the travelling public and residents, but the road surface is failing and must be replaced. We will do all we can to keep delays and disruption to a minimum and to complete the work as quickly as possible.”
