A75 head-on lorry crash victim named

POLICE have named a man who was killed when his car and a lorry crashed head-on.

• George Gibson died after car smashed into articulated lorry

George Gibson, 77, from Maxwell Park in Dalbeattie, Dumfries and Galloway, died in the accident on the A75 in nearby Shawhead at around 1.45pm yesterday.

Mr Gibson was driving a blue Ford Fiesta eastbound towards Dumfries which was in collision with a westbound articulated lorry.

Police are appealing for witnesses. They said they would like to speak to the driver of a dark estate car which was towing a trailer in front of Mr Gibson’s car before the crash.
