20 trains delayed after man arrested at Haymarket

COMMUTERS on more than 20 trains were delayed today after a man was arrested this morning at Haymarket station in Edinburgh in an alleged ticket dispute.

British Transport Police said the 25-year-old was involved in an incident on an Edinburgh-Dunblane train at around 6:45am.

A spokesman said only one passenger had been involved.

ScotRail tweeted after the incident: “Sorry, the line has reopened and services have resumed. We had to wait until the BTP removed the passengers.”

Passengers on 22 trains were held up - 20 were delayed by around 10 minutes, and two were cancelled after starting their journeys.

The service was stopped between Waverley and Haymarket stations.

A BTP spokesman said: “A 25-year-old man was arrested for an incident at Haymarket station this morning shortly before 6.45am.

“A report has been sent to the procurator fiscal.”
