Tram group fights ruling

THE city's tram developer is reportedly fighting a ruling by an independent adjudicator brought in to settle a dispute over work on major sections of the route.

Lord Dervaird ruled that German contractor Bilfinger is under no obligation to continue work where there is no agreement on costs.

However, in private correspondence, Tie has reportedly insisted that it has the right to force contractor Bilfinger to start work while negotiations continue.

The company has made no official comment, stating that adjudication rulings were commercially sensitive.
