Train strike door incident sparks concern

SAFETY concerns were raised today after it was revealed a stand-in conductor unlocked doors on the wrong side of a train during yesterday's one-day ScotRail strike.

The Edinburgh-bound service is understood to have been cancelled because of the incident, which happened at Glasgow's Queen Street station.

It is believed a manager, who was standing in as a conductor, activated doors on both sides of the 7.15am train as it stood at a platform.

The Rail Maritime and Transport union said the incident had "potential lethal consequences" and called for an independent inquiry.
