Train staff in walkout vote

THE Capital's railway stations could face disruption after unions began balloting thousands of staff over strike action.

The Transport Salaried Staffs Association claimed female managers and technicians working for Network Rail are being paid as much as 4000 a year less than male colleagues.

A Network Rail spokesman said: "This ballot is counter-productive in our efforts to forge a better, more productive and modern employer/trade union relationship."

The strike ballot will finish on August 18.
