Train held up as driver takes ill at controls

PASSENGERS on an Edinburgh-bound train were stuck at North Queensferry train station for around half an hour after the driver took ill at the controls.

Commuters on the ScotRail Newcraighall to Edinburgh train yesterday morning were informed by the conductor – while the train was stationary at North Queensferry train station – that the male driver had taken ill.

Paramedics transported the driver to the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy, and a replacement driver was called in.

A passenger on the train said: "The train was sitting for about 10 minutes at North Queensferry station, then the conductor said that we were waiting for an ambulance because the driver had taken ill and we would have to wait on a replacement driver."
