Trafficker to give up £7k in dirty cash

A MECHANIC who was awaiting trial for cocaine trafficking and went back to the illegal trade while out on bail has been ordered to hand over £7000 in crime profits.

Jeffrey Crombie, 43, was jailed for four years last year after he admitted being concerned in the supply of the Class A drugs between January 2008 and January last year.

He was given a further two months after being on bail for part of the time.

The Crown raised an action against Crombie to confiscate any proceeds of crime, but a judge at the High Court in Edinburgh was told yesterday that a settlement had been reached.

Advocate depute Barry Divers asked Lady Stacey to record the proceeds of Crombie's criminal conduct at 7000.

The judge said that Crombie, a prisoner in Edinburgh's Saughton jail, would be given three months to pay.
