Traders 'need waste help'

BUSINESSES should be given help to encourage them to recycle, a Green councillor said today.

Councillor Alison Johnstone said that all sectors of society have an important role to play in reducing waste.

She said small businesses often have difficulty setting up recycling contracts that make recycling an "affordable alternative" to trade waste contracts, where all waste goes to landfill.

She has lodged a motion for Thursday's meeting of the full council calling for it to look at how it supports local traders.
