Tourist chief's 'bargain pay'

NATIONAL tourism agency VisitScotland has appointed a new chief executive - and he will be paid £21,000 less than his predecessor.

Malcolm Roughhead succeeds Philip Riddle at the quango, based next to Ocean Terminal, after agreeing to take a lower salary of 140,000.

He moves on from his previous role as marketing director and has also asked that there is no annual bonus entitlement in his package.

Mr Roughhead, who had been acting chief executive since Mr Riddle's exit this year, has also announced a restructuring of senior staff, which will save 335,000 a year.
