Tories name council seat candidates

The Conservative group in Edinburgh has chosen two candidates that will bid to replace a long-serving city councillor.

Alastair Paisley is to stand down from representing the Pentland Hills ward after 15 years as a councillor.

Former NHS worker Dominic Heslop, 35, who now advises Tory MSP Nanette Milne, will stand alongside mother-of-four Sheila Low, who runs a children’s nursery.

Mr Heslop said: “It is an immense honour to be asked to follow in the footsteps of Alastair and we will be working hard across the local area and provide a strong voice for people’s concerns with the current council administration.”

Ms Low, who has had a career in venture capital and corporate finance, said: “I am really looking forward to meeting people and asking them what their local issues are and what they would want of me as their representative on the city council.”
