Topshop returns to the high street with Edinburgh and Glasgow locations as iconic brand makes comeback

The clothing brand Topshop has returned to the Scottish high street, with collections available to buy in John Lewis stores in Edinburgh and Glasgow from Tuesday.

The fashion giant, which had its heyday in the 2000s and 2010s, closed its last bricks-and-mortar store five years ago following the collapse of Sir Philip Green's retail empire Arcadia.

While the Topshop brand has been available to buy online after being acquired by Asos in 2021, the household name is now making a major high street comeback with collections appearing in all John Lewis’s 32 department stores for the coming spring/summer season.

John Lewis confirmed the partnership last year after Topshop launched in the upmarket London department store Liberty.

Collections will be available in the John Lewis stores in Edinburgh’s St James Quarter and Glasgow’s Buchanan Galleries.

The new in-store collection is made up of 130 of Topshop’s “most in-demand pieces” including their signature denim items.

Items from sister brand Topman are also available in seven of the 32 stores.

Fans will also now be able to buy Topshop products on the John Lewis website.

Michelle Wilson, managing director of Topshop, said: “Today is about making it easier for customers to access the Topshop and Topman pieces they love.

“From our cult denim to new‑season footwear, you can see it, feel it and take it home the same day.

“Partnering with John Lewis brings Topshop back to high streets across the UK with the level of service our customers expect.”

John Lewis boss Peter Ruis said: “This moment marks a significant acceleration of our fashion ambition at John Lewis.

“To be the exclusive home of an iconic brand like Topshop, sat alongside other exciting new brands, signals our commitment to be the definitive style authority on the British high street.”
