Tommy Sheridan's perjury trial: Witness 'paid by paper'

A PROSECUTION witness in the trial has been paid by the News of the World, Tommy Sheridan claimed yesterday.

Sheridan said a reporter from the Sunday tabloid had been at Katrine Trolle's door three times when it was trying to get a story on him. He asked: "Are you truthfully and honestly suggesting she (the reporter] never offered you money?"

Ms Trolle replied: "Yes."

She said she did not remember telling two people she had been offered money. However, when Sheridan mentioned 5,000 and then 10,000, she said: "Yes, and I never took a penny."
