Tobacco and alcohol talks

A JOINT tobacco and alcohol summit being held in Edinburgh today will help further reduce smoking and drinking rates in Scotland, experts said.

The event will bring together medics, charities and policy specialists as they seek to reduce illness and mortality brought on by the lifestyle choices.

It will allow those involved to learn from each other's industries, bringing together ideas for the first time on how to tackle the common problems.

Chief executive of ASH Scotland, the Edinburgh-based anti-smoking charity, said: "We want to find out what we can all learn from each other."
