Time travel at the palace

YOUNG volunteers will be stepping back in time this summer to become costumed guides at Linlithgow Palace.

Dressed in 16th-century style costumes, they will bring to life many of the stories associated with the palace, most famous as the birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots.

Alan Mowat, manager of Linlithgow Palace, said: "This year we mark the 450th anniversary of Mary Queen of Scots' return to Scotland so it is a great opportunity to find out about the palace if you've never been."
