Tighter rules for charity collections

The government plans to strengthen laws on how charities collect money to prevent organised criminals defrauding donors, the Cabinet Office minister has said.

Francis Maude told MPs the "repulsive" crime was becoming more widespread, with up to 50 million a year lost to bogus collectors and as a result licensing needed change.
