Three fires in 40 minutes

THREE fires in Stenhouse within a 40-minute period are thought to have been started deliberately.

The first fire was in a gas meter at a house in Stenhouse Crescent just after 6am today. The building was smoke damaged but nobody was injured. Just a minute later, a bin was reported to be alight in Stenhouse Drive. Then firefighters were called to a fire in a shed in a back garden in Stenhouse Terrace around 6.40am.

A total of 17 firefighters and four appliances attended the fires. A spokesman for Lothian and Borders Police said inquiries were ongoing.

The fire service was also called to a fire in a cell at Addiewell Prison in West Lothian at around 7.45pm last night.
