FOUR men who smashed the window of a convenience store and made off with a haul of cigarettes were today being hunted by police.

The break-in took place around 12.55am yesterday at the Co-Operative store in Countess Crescent in Dunbar, East Lothian.

After breaking the window, the suspects made off with the cigarettes in a dark-coloured Vauxhall Astra.

Then, at around 2.50am yesterday, the four men were reported making off from a property in Kirkhill Terrace in Gorebridge, Midlothian having broken into its garage.

A motor scooter was stolen but later recovered nearby.

The Vauxhall Astra was found abandoned in the Straiton area, and police are following a positive line of inquiry.

A police spokesman said: "Fortunately, the vast majority of stolen property has been recovered."
