Thief's third time unlucky

A SHOPLIFTER stole three bottles of vodka from a discount store before her luck ran out, a court heard yesterday.

Nicola Lammie had drunk the booze, worth 35.47, by the time she was caught, Livingston Sheriff Court heard.

Wendy McDonald, prosecuting, said Lammie had twice been seen hiding bottles under her jacket by staff at Aldi.

Police traced Lammie, of Bathgate, West Lothian, and she admitted the thefts.

She appeared for sentence yesterday after earlier pleading guilty to stealing the booze on January 11 this year.

Andy Aitken, defending, said the offences were committed before Lammie had been put on probation for another crime.

Sheriff Graeme Fleming imposed a second probation and ordered Lammie to pay compensation to the store.
