1 A more cost-effective local authority structure which focuses on the strategic planning of school places, community provision, additional support needs and school transport.

2 A balanced, relevant curriculum that equips young people with the knowledge and skills for the future as Curriculum for Excellence intends.

3 A school estate which inspires both learners and teachers.

4 A national pay and conditions structure which supports recruitment and retention of good leaders.

5 Significant autonomy and accountability to empower leaders to develop local solutions for local issues.

6 Maximum funding being made available to frontline services.

7 Sufficient funding to schools to ensure that the educational needs, indeed the core entitlement, of all students can be met.

8 Fewer tiers of management and layers of accountability among the Scottish Government, local authorities and schools.

9 Provision of a highly qualified and appropriately trained workforce.

10 A recognition and respect for Scottish culture.
